Michigan Comic Collection to Get Photos of Breathed

By: E&P Staff An original CD of photos taken at a West Coast appearance of "Opus" cartoonist Berkeley Breathed is being donated to Michigan State University's comic art collection.

Breathed was photographed in Alameda, Calif., at a May 11 reading/signing for his new "Mars Needs Moms" children's book. Taking the pictures was Miron Mercury, a stringer for Mike Rhode's ComicsDC blog. Some of the photos can be seen on that blog (http://comicsdc.blogspot.com).

"Opus" is syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group, which also distributed the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Bloom County" comic Breathed did from 1980 to 1989.
