By: The nation's largest gay and lesbian newspaper publisher has shut down.
Laura Douglas-Brown, editor of Southern Voice newspaper in Atlanta, said she arrived at work Monday to find the locks changed and a note saying parent company Window Media LLC, based in Washington, D.C., had closed down. Douglas-Brown said the company's majority stockholder, New York City-based Avalon Equity Partners, had been in federal receivership since August of last year.
The company's other publications include the Washington Blade, Houston Voice and South Florida Blade. Douglas-Brown said the other publications were also being closed.
Steven Myers, co-president of Window Media, declined comment.
