By: E&P Staff Many well-known syndicated creators will speak at this fall's Festival of Cartoon Art sponsored by Ohio State University's Cartoon Research Library.
Those slated to address the Oct. 25-27 gathering include Houston Chronicle/Washington Post Writers Group editorial cartoonist Nick Anderson, "Curtis" creator Ray Billingsley of King Features Syndicate, and "Fun Home" graphic novelist/self-syndicated "Dykes to Watch Out For" cartoonist Alison Bechdel.
Also: Dayton Daily News editorial cartoonist/"Mother Goose and Grimm" creator Mike Peters of King, Universal Press Syndicate editorial cartoonist/United Media executive Ted Rall, comics historian/"Hi and Lois" writer Brian Walker of King, and "Beetle Bailey" creator Mort Walker of King.
Among the other speakers will be former Village Voice/Universal editorial cartoonist Jules Feiffer, Fantagraphics Books co-founder Gary Groth, and comics historian R.C. Harvey -- author of a new biography of "Terry and the Pirates"/"Steve Canyon" creator Milton Caniff (1907-1988).
The festival, which will focus on "graphic storytelling," is being held during the centennial year of Caniff's birth. His papers became the founding collection of the Cartoon Research Library, which began in 1977.
The library revealed the 2007 festival lineup on its Web site, where the announcement was spotted today by DailyCartoonist.com.
