Ohio State to Start 'Continued' Comic Exhibit This Monday

By: E&P Staff An exhibit called "To Be Continued: Comic Strip Storytelling" will open Monday at the Ohio State University Cartoon Research Library and continue through Aug. 24.

The Columbus, Ohio-based show focuses on a number of past and present comics with reader-grabbing storylines that can extend for days, weeks, or years. The strips include "Doonesbury," "For Better or For Worse," "Gasoline Alley," "Little Orphan Annie," "Li'l Abner," "Pogo," "Little Nemo in Slumberland," and "Flash Gordon," among others.

The exhibit is part of "Storytelling 2007," a year-long celebration of graphic narrative commemorating the centennial of the birth of "Terry and the Pirates"/"Steve Canyon" cartoonist Milton Caniff. Caniff is not included in the "To Be Continued" show because the Cartoon Research Library will hold a retrospective of his work this fall.
