PETA.org Running a Syndicated Comic for the First Time

Posted
By: E&P Staff The "Deflocked" comic began running yesterday on the Web site of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

It's the first time PETA is running a syndicated strip on its site.

"Deflocked," which is set on a dysfunctional animal preserve, stars an opinionated sheep named Mamet. PETA is conducting a "Save the Sheep" campaign that seeks to end abuses such as "mulesing," which involves skinning the backsides of sheep (to control blowfly infestation) without anesthesia and sometimes using hedge shears.

The humor comic is by TV comedy writer Jeff Corriveau, the former co-head writer of "Talk Soup" and contributor to "Saturday Night Live" and the "Tonight" show.
