Pittsburgh 'Post-Gazette' Launches Members-Only Site Tonight

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has announced the launch of PG+, a members-only Web site that will charge a subscription fee for interactive features and exclusive content "above and beyond" what the Post-Gazette currently provides in its daily print and online versions, according to a report on the newspaper's Web site.

PG+ will launch at midnight on Sept. 1. The Post-Gazette will charge an annual membership fee of $36, and monthly memberships are available for $3.99.

The new site -- which will not replace the paper's regular site, post-gazette.com -- will be hosted by a team of Post-Gazette bloggers with an emphasis on social interaction. Members can access Post-Gazette blogs, videos, live chats "and behind-the-scenes insights into the news of the day," according to the Post-Gazette report.

PG+ members will receive discounts for sports, retail and entertainment venues, as well as access to special Post-Gazette events. The paper is also offering members who sign up a free copy of its book "Super Six," which chronicles the Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl-winning season.
