Presteligence Prepress-to-Press System Sales

By: E&P Staff Presteligence Inc. of North Canton, Ohio, announced that it ended 2004 with several installations.

The Hartford (Conn.) Courant installed the Internet Proofing System (IPS), for electronically proofing RIPed pages over the Internet, annotating and accepting or rejecting a job, and enabling fast error reports. The Courant is part of Tribune Co., which chose IPS for its newspapers.

The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky., upgraded its IPS software to version 5.0, which features enhanced proof gallery view, more notification options, two-way RIP communication, ad versioning, additional reporting, auto data export, and increased annotation features.

Ad infinitum, the hosted online e-tearsheet and invoice delivery service, was implemented in the fourth quarter at the Bloomington (Ind.) Herald-Times, where Advertising Director Cory Bollinger attributed the choice to its price, his paper's past relationship with the company, and the belief that it was more compatible with the paper's ad tracking system.

Presteligence also installed its new Xtreme Inking press presetting software at four New York Times Co. sites: The Gainesville Sun, the Lakeland Ledger, and the Ocala Star-Banner, all in Florida, and the Star-News in Wilmington, N.C. To be introduced at Nexpo next week, Xtreme calculates ink density values for a press from the same data used to make plates.

More users of the BlackMagic News Extra color-calibrated proofing system include advertisers AM Entertainment and Saks Fifth Avenue, which can now generate in-house proofs that match those produced on the same systems at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, in which their ads appear, and the Ocala Star-Banner, The Gaston Gazette, Gastonia, N.C., and at Southwest Offset, Gardena, Calif.

The Klamath Falls, Ore., Herald and News installed Imaging Station software, which sits on the network and acts as a print buffer, enabling output to a wide range of proofing, CTP, and imagesetting devices.
