Prosecutors: Disgraced Media Mogul Black Gave False Statements

By: Federal prosecutors asked a judge today to revoke the bail of former newspaper tycoon Conrad Black unless he puts up more of his holdings as bond.

The prosecutors say he violated an agreement with the government and provided false statements about his assets.

U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve granted Black's defense team more time to review the court filing and put off a hearing in the case until June 26.

Black -- who once headed the Hollinger International media empire -- faces a March 2007 trial on charges he plundered millions of dollars from the company.

He pleaded not guilty to fraud charges last December and agreed to forfeit $20 million if he fails to show up in court.

Black's lawyers did not return a phone call seeking comment. They until Thursday to respond to the government's filings.
