Pulitzer-winning 'Great Falls Tribune' Editor Retiring

By: A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist with the Great Falls Tribune is retiring.

Projects Editor Eric Newhouse plans to end his 21-year career at the newspaper on March 5. His last day in the office is Thursday but he will continue writing stories through March as a special correspondent.

Newhouse won the Pulitzer Prize for explanatory reporting in 2000 for a year-long series of stories about alcohol abuse in Montana. The stories later became a book titled "Alcohol: Cradle to Grave."

The 64-year-old Newhouse spent two decades with The Associated Press before joining the Tribune. He plans to move to Charleston, W. Va., where he and his wife, Susie, have two grandchildren. He says he plans to write books and teach journalism. Tribune Publisher Jim Strauss says the newspaper and the state will miss his reporting.
