By: E&P Staff The Republican of Springfield, Mass., was thinking of cutting its comics section from two pages to one as a cost-saving measure. But when more than 4,000 readers responded to a comics poll, the newspaper decided to not only keep two pages but run the funnies in full color.
Wayne Phaneuf, the paper's executive editor, said the redesigned pages are making their debut today.
