Sean Carter joins The Washington Post as an audio engineer-composer

We are excited to announce that Sean Carter is joining Audio as The Post’s first full-time audio engineer-composer.

Sean recently returned to the United States after having spent seven years in Bangkok. During that time, he built an impressive portfolio as a freelance audio producer, sound designer and composer who worked with clients ranging from Vogue and Vice to the United Nations. Some recent credits include songwriter and co-composer for an Isuzu campaign in Thailand, and production sound mixer and recordist for a mesmerizing dive into Japan’s music scene.

Before moving to Southeast Asia, Sean interned at Silent Sound Studios in Atlanta. He worked under the tutelage of Grammy-nominated chief recording engineer TK Kidd, and high-profile hip-hop and R&B artists including Pharrell Williams, Pusha-T, Usher, T.I. and The Dream.

Sean studied sound design at the Savannah College of Art and Design and minored in film and television. He has served as a SCAD ambassador for international high school seniors heading to the school’s programs in both Georgia and Hong Kong.

When Sean isn’t working, he enjoys horror movies, film photography and traveling the world — preferably with a cold coconut in hand.
