Signe Wilkinson Is Latest Editorial Cartoonist to Try Animation

Posted
By: Dave Astor Signe Wilkinson has joined the growing group of editorial cartoonists doing Web animation.

Her latest animation takes a shot at Philadelphia mayoral candidate Tom Knox. "He's a multimillionaire who's spent $5 million so far on his campaign," The Philadelphia Daily News/Washington Post Writers Group creator told E&P. "The four other campaigners all must raise money under strict new anti-corruption-inspired campaign-finance laws, so they don't have enough money to go after this guy."

Assisting on the Daily News animations is Vance Lehmkuhl, who Wilkinson described as a "big contributor" to the process.

Among the other editorial cartoonists doing Web animation is Walt Handelsman of Newsday of Melville, N.Y., and Tribune Media Services. He won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning last week partly because of his animation work.
