By: The Southeast Missourian newspaper will suspend publication of its Saturday print edition in order to better manage its costs.
Publisher Jon Rust says breaking news will still be reported online during the weekend and the newspaper plans to expand its Friday and Sunday newspapers. The change goes into effect Sept. 12.
Obituaries that would normally be printed Saturday will now be placed online by noon Saturday and then published in Sunday's paper. Friday night local sports will be updated on the Web and covered in the Sunday edition.
The Southeast Missourian said Tuesday it wanted to manage its costs, while keeping its rates the same for subscribers and advertisers.
