MINNEAPOLIS—September 6, 2013—Star Tribune today announced it has upgraded all of its acclaimed High School Sports Hubs, a suite of 18 comprehensive websites devoted to high school athletics across the state. It also unveiled an updated Star Tribune High School Football Scoreboard app that provides real-time updates, playoff/tournament info, and more for Android and Apple iOS mobile devices.

The 18 High School Sports Hubs provide unsurpassed resources for fans, coaches, players, families, and scouts, including stories and video from Star Tribune and StarTribune.com, player and team statistics, conference standings, state rankings, tournament info and results, rosters, and more. Each site is also optimized for viewing on mobile devices, for users on the go and at the game. The High School Sports Hubs enable fans, coaches, student managers, or other supporters to manage team pages and submit photos, scores, stats, and more through a simple Web interface.

With their high-interest content and frequent updates, the High School Sports Hubs are go-to sites for thousands of Minnesotans, making them an ideal platform for advertisers that want to reach a broad statewide audience in a desirable demographic: active families.

Separately, Star Tribune also announced that it has upgraded its High School Football Scoreboard mobile application, sponsored by Mills Fleet Farm. This app—designed expressly for smartphones—provides a rich at-game experience for high school football fans who want to keep tabs on their own or rival teams right from the bleachers or away from the field. The interface also supports tournament brackets, player profiles, team rosters, leaderboards and other high-demand features. Star Tribune anticipates releasing updated hockey apps and new basketball mobile apps later this year.

“The High School Sports Hubs and the apps reflect Star Tribune’s commitment to delivering more of what matters to Minnesota,” said Jim Bernard, senior vice president of digital. “High school sports are an important part of life in communities across our state, from the cities to the suburbs to small towns.

“The Sports Hubs now have an exciting new look for the new school year. We’ve streamlined the interface across all sports, adding better search, tabbed screens, and a school finder to simplify navigation and give fans a clear, consistent experience. And with our mobile versions, fans can access content while attending games and even get real-time updates of rivals’ games for some sports.”
