U.K.-based global film business brand Screen International and the U.S.’ pre-eminent entertainment newsletter, The Ankler, are teaming to publish a daily newsletter at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The newsletter, helmed by The Ankler’s Gregg Kilday, will deliver selected breaking news, interviews, reviews and analysis from Screen International, the longest-running daily print publication at Cannes and the festival’s pre-eminent digital news outlet, into the inboxes of The Ankler’s 71,000 subscribers. The newsletter will also contain Kilday and The Ankler’s original reporting from the festival.

The partnership brings together Screen’s unrivaled expertise and understanding of the international independent film industry with The Ankler’s blue-chip North American audience of entertainment industry insiders. It also marks a further expansion into the international market by Ankler Media, which recently brought Manori Ravindran on as London correspondent, where she has covered the Berlin Film Festival and the British TV market, among other stories.

The Screen International team publishes print and digital daily editions from its newsroom at the Majestic. Kilday, who most recently authored our Prestige Junkie column during Oscars season, will work out of Screen’s Cannes newsroom to helm the daily newsletter, delivered by 6:30 a.m. PT for The Ankler audience. This will mark the 18th visit to the Cannes Film Festival by Kilday, a veteran film editor.

The joint Ankler/Screen newsletter will run from May 15-22. Separately, Ankler content will be featured by Screen International in its own daily Cannes newsletter.

“I’ve always envied and admired Screen’s presence and news prowess at the Cannes Film Festival; it is a thrill to bring together our shared sensibility and introduce our audiences to each other during the most important film festival in the world,” says Janice Min, CEO and editor-in-chief of Ankler Media.

Says Matt Mueller, editor-in-chief of Screen International: “We have been avid readers of The Ankler’s coverage of the entertainment industry for years and are delighted to be partnering with them during Cannes. I look forward to collaborating with Janice, Gregg and The Ankler team to share our Cannes coverage with their readers, and vice versa.”
