The New York Times announces a promotion for Derek Arthur in Opinion Audio

Posted

I’m very excited to share that Derek Arthur has been promoted to a producer. He will be bringing his signature wide-ranging interest, attention to detail and ear for scoring to “The Opinions” in his new role.

Since joining the Times in 2021, Derek has worked across a number of Opinion Audio shows, including “First Person” and “The Argument.” Since May, he has been a critical part of the team making “Matter of Opinion,” cutting segments of the show, helping to keep the trains running smoothly, and occasionally leading production on episodes.

He’s started making shorts over the last few months. His pieces have included a format-breaking audio version of the peace in Gaza package, a heart-wrenching look at medical aid in dying, and most recently, a very moving adaptation of the homelessness series.

We’re so excited to see what Derek does next! Please join me in congratulating him.
