By: E&P Staff Seven months after Village Voice Media dropped all syndicated comics in its alternative weeklies, Tom Tomorrow's "This Modern World" is returning to the group's flagship Village Voice in the issue appearing Thursday.
So far the strip is only returning to the Voice, but in his blog the cartoonist suggested other VVM publications could follow.
"Alt-weekly cartooning overall has kind of been on the ropes for the past year or two, and any editor who takes a stand in support of the art form deserves profound thanks," Tomorrow wrote. "This is a first step, but it's a huge one in the right direction -- for me personally, of course, but with any luck, for other cartoonists as well."
Tomorrow added, "I really didn't expect this, and I just have to say thank you to the people who went out of their way to make it happen."
