Two Named in Story Suing Arizona Paper

By: Two people named in a lawsuit over towing industry practices are now suing the East Valley Tribune over its coverage of the case.

The Mesa, Arizona-based newspaper wrote about the suit on May 18th front page.

According to the Tribune, Christopher and Carol Ferrante are former owners of Gilbert Collision Center.

The newspaper said the couple were named in a lawsuit that claims they worked with other tow companies and body shops to drive up towing fees.

The Ferrantes say in their lawsuit that the Tribune defamed the couple in the story.

The Ferrantes claim they sold the body shop in March and that they never charged excessive fees.

Tribune attorneys were reviewing the filing Thursday and had no immediate comment on the case.
