By: E&P Staff US Ink, Carlstadt N.J., signed an exclusive distribution deal for the Americas with Sinapse Graphic International, based near Paris. US Ink will incorporate Sinapse press simulators in its comprehensive USeIT coldset-web training program.

The agreement "advances our goal of addressing the needs of our customers for multisite, affordable and structured on demand press training solutions," US Ink President of US Ink Greg Lawson said in a statement. Marketing Manager Todd Wheeler called USeIT "a key enhancement" to US Ink's RealColor program. USeIT is priced according to the number of simulator hours purchased.

Sinapse Graphic International President Peter Herman said time-based pricing "allows newspapers with multiple printing sites to more cost effectively incorporate press-simulator training across their organization."

Sinapse simulators won the GATF Intertech Technology Award.

Press training with the USeIT simulation program aims to r
reduce newsprint waste through improved trouble-shooting, improve understanding of lithographic principles, provide benchmarking, exceed print quality expectations and product impact, improve ROI on color-capacity investment, raise press operators' skill levels (with training modules based on NAA's Press Operators Manual and US Ink's Press Doctor Software), and support new revenue initiatives in commercial work.
