JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Vaughn Burnheimer has been named The Tribune-Democrat’s new general manager, CNHI Regional Executive and Tribune-Democrat Publisher Chip Minemyer announced Thursday.

Burnheimer, who joined the newspaper in October 2017, most recently served as director of creative and digital content.

He will now help oversee the publication’s day-to-day operations.

“Coming from a digital background, I think growing our digital audience is a primary objective, also connecting with new and younger readers is something I’m going to be focused on and maintaining excellent newspaper circulation and print edition customer service,” Burnheimer said.

Burnheimer added: “The Tribune-Democrat has been printing for over 170 years. Today, through our print edition, magazine and innovative digital platforms, we are taking steps to keep that tradition alive for many generations to come. I am thrilled to be a part of it, and excited for the future.”

He is a Johnstown native who lives in the city’s Roxbury neighborhood with his wife, Emily.

“This is the newspaper I grew up reading and learning from,” Burnheimer said. “The Tribune-Democrat has been a mainstay in my life and the lives of everyone in this region. It is an enormous responsibility, but also a great honor, to help this storied newspaper and our communities grow into a new era.”

Minemyer pointed to Burnheimer’s previous work in which he collaborated with departments on news, marketing strategies and content development; tracked analytics; helped grow podcasting efforts; trained staff and brought changes to the graphic artists department’s work flow.

“Vaughn is a highly talented and hard-working professional who already touches pretty much every area of our business in a very positive way,” Minemyer said. “That includes developing and guiding strategies for our digital news and marketing initiatives, leading our graphic design team and personally designing Johnstown Magazine each month, helping to lead and elevate our internal and external special projects, and supporting and enhancing many corporate digital efforts.

“He represents the best of our present and our future. And, on top of all of that, he's a great person who is genuinely liked by everyone around him. I'm very happy for Vaughn — and for our company.”
