'Washington Times' Reportedly Requires $40 Million Annual Subsidy

By: Joe Strupp An affidavit that is reportedly part of a lawsuit set to be filed against The Washington Times by its editorial page editor claims the daily paper relies on $40 million in annual subsidies from its owners, The Unification Church.

TPM Live Wire reports that "a wide-ranging affidavit" by editorial page editor Richard Miniter paints the financial picture, as well as providing details of other experiences during his tenure there. Among them, allegedly being forced to attend religious events.

Miniter's affidavit is part of a lawsuit set to be filed this week against the paper in which he claims medical and emotional stress during his time there.
