Webby Awards Announce Nominees for Best Newspaper Sites of the Year

By: E&P Staff The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences has announced this year's nominees for the Webby Awards in the category of "Best Newspaper Site of the Year."

The nominees include NYTimes.com, Guardian Unlimited, and The Wall Street Journal Online. The other nominees (both not daily newspaper sites) are Variety.com, and The Hollywood Reporter (which is owned by the Nielsen Company, the parent company to E&P.) Guardian Unlimited won the award for best newspaper site last year. A winner will be named on May 1st and honored at a ceremony in New York on June 5th.

"The Web is now the dominant force reshaping everything from business to popular culture," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards in a statement. "Having set the standards for Websites, we are thrilled to now honor the innovators who are taking the medium in exciting new creative directions."
