When the pandemic hit, Emily Brindley and Alex Putterman, two young journalists at the Hartford Courant, were taken off their usual beats to report on Covid-19. What was supposed to be just a few days of a pivot quickly turned into nearly a year of them becoming the paper’s lead coronavirus reporters.
