WoodWing Unveils Enterprise 7

By: E&P Staff At last month's IFRA Expo in Vienna, WoodWing Software unveiled release 7 of its Enterprise publishing system, which offers greater flexibility for integrating social media into multi-channel publishing, enables editorial content planning based on instant analysis of online reader interests, and provides highly relevant research results with Search 2.0.

Scheduled for release in December, Enterprise 7 comes with Content Station 7, a new version of the client application that provides publishers with content planning, production and management for multiple destinations.

WoodWing Enterprise 7 can publish to virtually any channel, including Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and YouTube, as well as more traditional channels such as Web, mobile, e-mail, SMS and print.

The "Follow the Reader" add-on feature instantly analyzes online visitor behavior, making page views, geographic distribution, time spent and other statistics available directly within Content Station. Editors see which stories are successful and can plan new content taking reader preferences into account.

Enterprise 7's open-source Apache Solr search generates faceted search results that are classified and grouped to allow the user to easily filter and review the results in greater detail.

The new integrated Visual Search facilitates finding images close to the desired result without recourse to keyword search by analyzing colors, textures and shapes.

Variable and structured data publishing, for applications such as television programs and event listings, was improved through integration of Smart Catalog, enabling publishers to link their InDesign pages to an external structured data source. Linked data automatically appears on the page, with rule-based on-the-fly formatting and easy updating.

Content Station 7's enhanced user interface is apparent in Dossiers, where articles are logically grouped for quick navigation, while the publication channel overview provides a complete summary of all items published to the various channels. Also new is support of multiple-component articles in the built-in media-neutral text editor.

WoodWing's Smart Connection plug-ins -- the foundation for print content producers using InDesign and InCopy -- also are updated features to make work with Dossiers more efficient. The user interface here also was refined, based on customer feedback.

With increased server performance and reduced memory footprint, Enterprise 7 supports OS X 10.6, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Adobe CS4.
