'Zippy' Joins 'Mallard' in Paying Tribute to Late King Editor

By: E&P Staff Another King Features Syndicate cartoonist has paid tribute to late King editor in chief Jay Kennedy, who died in a drowning accident last month.

In yesterday's "Zippy the Pinhead" strip, Bill Griffith recounted memories of conversations with Kennedy and noted that the King editor "loved comics. All kinds of comics .... We both knew comics were the greatest American art form every created."

Previously, "Mallard Fillmore" cartoonist Bruce Tinsley paid tribute to Kennedy in his April 2 comic.
